(Schmidt Ocean Institute)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Descubriendo nuevas especies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La inmersi\u00f3n a lo largo de este monte con 3.000 m de altura se llev\u00f3 a cabo<strong>&nbsp;mediante un veh\u00edculo operado remotamente<\/strong>. Se mape\u00f3 la zona y se descubri\u00f3 un ecosistema con&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elconfidencial.com\/medioambiente\/naturaleza\/2021-09-28\/arrecifes-de-coral-reduccion-biodiversidad_3296710\/\">jardines de coral&nbsp;<\/a>de un tama\u00f1o equivalente a tres canchas de tenis. (Schmidt Ocean Institute)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta expedici\u00f3n, la tercera realizada este a\u00f1o, supuso el descubrimiento de 20 nuevas especies que se a\u00f1aden a las 150 descubiertas entre las dos anteriores. El n\u00famero total de especies censadas en estas aguas superan los 1.300 y su registro es fundamental para&nbsp;<strong>establecer una alianza colaborativa que acelere el descubrimiento y posterior protecci\u00f3n de la vida oce\u00e1nica.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan Alex David Rogers, director cient\u00edfico de Ocean Census, los nuevos descubrimientos contribuir\u00e1n a una mejor \u201ccomprensi\u00f3n de la distribuci\u00f3n de formas de vida notables en estas monta\u00f1as submarinas, incluidas varias&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elconfidencial.com\/tecnologia\/ciencia\/2020-08-18\/nuevas-especies-animales-fondo-mar-galapagos_2717335\/\">especies que nunca hab\u00edan sido cartografiadas<\/a>&nbsp;o vistas
