Entre todas las enfermedades mentales, <strong>la depresi\u00f3n es la m\u00e1s presente de todas ellas, llegando a afectar a un total de <a href=\"https:\/\/vizhub.healthdata.org\/gbd-results\/\">330 millones de personas<\/a> seg\u00fan estudios del 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfEl por qu\u00e9 de esta cifra tan alta? Se debe a factores que van desde los biol\u00f3gicos a los sociales, aunque tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 relacionado con <strong>el estilo de vida, o eso es lo que ha intentado demostrar el \u00faltimo estudio de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com.es\/ciencia\/mejora-dieta-mediterranea-sintomas-depresion-esto-dice-ciencia_22534\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Geographic Espa\u00f1a.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre los h\u00e1bitos de riesgo dentro de un estilo de vida determinado que est\u00e1 m\u00e1s expuesto a desarrollar enfermedades mentales, entran <strong>el consumo de tabaco, alcohol o la inactividad f\u00edsica<\/strong>, aunque a\u00f1ade el estudio que \u201c<strong>la alimentaci\u00f3n ha recibido especial atenci\u00f3n por parte de la comunidad cient\u00edfica<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No es ning\u00fan secreto el hecho de que, <strong>tener una dieta poco saludable<\/strong> (alimentos procesados, de az\u00facares, aditivos, qu\u00edmicos\u2026) \u201c<strong>puede favorecer la liberaci\u00f3n de citoquinas proinflamatorias por parte del sistema inmunitario. Y esto aumentar\u00eda el riesgo de producir, entre otras desregulaciones de la salud mental<\/strong>, los s\u00edntomas depresivos\u201d. Es aqu\u00ed ante esta pregunta cuando National Geographic se cuestiona si al adoptar una dieta mediterr\u00e1nea el riesgo ser\u00eda distinto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"puede-la-dieta-mediterrnea-reducir-la-depresin\">\u00bfPuede la dieta mediterr\u00e1nea reducir la depresi\u00f3n?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Para comprobar si esta dieta es favorable o no a la hora de evitar la depresi\u00f3n, el equipo de National Geographic realiz\u00f3 <strong>un estudio que sintetiza cinco ensayos cl\u00ednicos con 1 507 personas adultas de entre 22 y 53 a\u00f1os. <\/strong>Evaluaron <em>\u00abel efecto de intervenciones basadas en la educaci\u00f3n nutricional \u2013a trav\u00e9s de recomendaciones diet\u00e9ticas y administraci\u00f3n de alimentos que promov\u00edan la adherencia a una dieta mediterr\u00e1nea\u2013 con una duraci\u00f3n de 2 a 48 semanas\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es as\u00ed como han podido demostrar que <strong>los participantes de dieta mediterr\u00e1nea presentaron \u201cun menor n\u00famero de s\u00edntomas de depresi\u00f3n\u201d<\/strong>, comparado con el otro grupo. El por qu\u00e9 de estos resultados, puede deberse a que \u00abuna dieta saludable como la mediterr\u00e1nea s<strong>er\u00eda capaz de reducir los niveles de marcadores inflamatorios sist\u00e9micos espec\u00edficos<\/strong> \u2013como la prote\u00edna C reactiva\u2013 asociados a los comportamientos depresivos\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuente: <a
