EFE\/Archivo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">EFE \/ P\u00daBLICO<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m377-376-378\">El proyecto cient\u00edfico del\u00a0<strong>Consorcio de Gen\u00f3mica Psiqui\u00e1trica<\/strong>, dirigido por la Universidad de Cardiff (Reino Unido) ha descubierto un n\u00famero mucho mayor de v\u00ednculos gen\u00e9ticos con la esquizofrenia . En el\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publico.es\/ciencias\/grupo-investigadores-identifica-75-regiones-genoma-asociadas-alzheimer.html#analytics-noticia:contenido-enlace\">estudio\u00a0<\/a>han participado\u00a0<strong>45 pa\u00edses; entre ellos Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>.\u00a0El equipo afirma que esta investigaci\u00f3n global arroja \u00abla luz m\u00e1s fuerte\u00bb sobre la base gen\u00e9tica de esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m382-1-383\">Concretamente, los investigadores han identificado\u00a0<strong>un amplio n\u00famero de genes<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>espec\u00edficos\u00a0<\/strong>que podr\u00edan tener un papel relevante en la esquizofrenia. Adem\u00e1s, un fallo en la comunicaci\u00f3n de la sinapsis\u00a0\u2014es decir, la uni\u00f3n entre neuronas\u2014 podr\u00eda desencadenar el trastorno, seg\u00fan el trabajo.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m387-2-388\">\u00abLas investigaciones anteriores hab\u00edan mostrado asociaciones entre la esquizofrenia y muchas secuencias de ADN an\u00f3nimas, pero rara vez ha sido posible\u00a0<strong>vincular los hallazgos<\/strong>\u00a0a genes espec\u00edficos\u00bb, explica en un comunicado el investigador\u00a0<strong>Michael O&#8217;Donovan<\/strong>, de la Universidad de Cardiff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m392-3-393\">El presente estudio, no solo ha aumentado de manera significativa el n\u00famero de esas asociaciones, sino que ahora se ha podido \u00abvincular muchas de ellas<strong>&nbsp;a genes espec\u00edficos<\/strong>, un paso necesario en lo que sigue siendo un dif\u00edcil camino hacia la comprensi\u00f3n de las causas de este trastorno y la identificaci\u00f3n de nuevos tratamientos\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"m397-4-398\">Las neuronas, el lugar m\u00e1s importante de la patolog\u00eda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m402-5-403\">El equipo hall\u00f3 un \u00abaumento sustancial\u00bb del n\u00famero de regiones gen\u00f3micas asociadas a la esquizofrenia y dentro de estas regiones identific\u00f3&nbsp;<strong>120 genes<\/strong>&nbsp;que probablemente contribuyan al trastorno. Aunque hay un gran n\u00famero de variantes gen\u00e9ticas implicadas en la esquizofrenia, el estudio demuestra que se concentran en los genes que se expresan en las neuronas, lo que apunta a estas c\u00e9lulas como el lugar m\u00e1s importante de la patolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m407-6-408\">Los resultados tambi\u00e9n sugieren que el funcionamiento anormal de las neuronas en la esquizofrenia\u00a0<strong>afecta a muchas \u00e1reas del cerebro,<\/strong>\u00a0lo que podr\u00eda explicar sus diversos s\u00edntomas, que pueden incluir alucinaciones, delirios y problemas para pensar con claridad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"m412-7-413\">El profesor\u00a0<strong>James Walters<\/strong>, director del Centro MRC de Gen\u00e9tica y Gen\u00f3mica Neuropsiqui\u00e1trica de la Universidad de Cardiff, ha dicho: \u00abEsperamos que los resultados de este estudio y de los que lo acompa\u00f1an sirvan para avanzar en la comprensi\u00f3n del trastorno y facilitar el desarrollo
